El Niño

In 1997-98 the strongest El Niño event ever recorded occurred. This has caused climate anomalies with catastropic consequences in many areas of the world (drought and forest fires in Indonesia and Brazil, torrential rain and floodings on the American Pacific coast from California to Peru, floodings in eastern Africa etc.). I have found a lot of links describing and treating the phenomenon El Niño.
